Douglas Williams is an award-winning playwright and filmmaker.

Williams’ play SHIP was awarded the M. Elizabeth Osborn New Play Award by the American Theatre Critics Association and was a finalist for the Steinberg Award.

His films have screened at the Atlanta Film Festival, the Philadelphia Film Society, the Arizona International Film Festival, the Crown Heights Film Festival and more.

Williams was the Playwright in Residence at Azuka Theatre for seven years, presenting three world premieres of his plays. His plays have also been produced and developed by Orbiter 3, SPACE on Ryder Farm, Theatre Horizon, Great Plains Theatre Conference, PlayPenn, Palm Beach Dramaworks, The Foundry, InterAct Theatre, FringeArts, Baylor Stage, Bristol Riverside Theatre, and Washington College, among others. His work has been a finalist at the O'Neill, the LARK, Kitchen Dog, and Ars Nova's PlayGroup.

He is a co-founder of the critically acclaimed producing playwrights collective Orbiter 3 and was awarded the Silver Grant from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.
